Korean Traditional Pottery Experience_Blue and White Porcelain
The Korean blue and white porcelain, or Cheonghwa Baekja,
is a highly regarded traditional art form that beautifully showcases the aesthetics of Joseon-era potters and painters.
In this class, you’ll have the chance to step into the role of the artist and complete a piece of Cheonghwa Baekja,
just as artists did in the Joseon dynasty by collaborating on these beautiful works.
You’ll start by selecting one vase from a variety of shapes, crafted in white porcelain by a korean ceramic artist. Then, you’ll paint your chosen vase, using traditional Korean patterns and a selection of reference images as inspiration.
You’ll also be able to view a demonstration video before beginning, so there’s no need to worry even if you’re new to painting—you’ll be fully guided to enjoy the process.
The vase you will receive has undergone
its first firing and will be fully completed after two more firings (second glaze firing and third gold firing).
Typically, this process takes about 2-3 weeks.
If you would prefer to skip the third gold firing,
pickup can be arranged within 1-2 weeks—please let us know on the day of your class. :)
On the day of your class, you can choose to either pick up your art piece in person,
have it shipped domestically, or sent internationally.
Any additional shipping fees can be settled directly at our studio.
(International shipping is approximately $30-40.)
